Four days before Christmas The Beatles held a fancy dress party at the Royal Lancaster Hotel for everyone involved in the making of Magical Mystery Tour, as well as some friends - the entertainment was provided by The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. Among the guests were Mike Love and Bruce Johnston from The Beach Boys who ended up singing on stage with The Beatles… it must have been some night !

The Beatles’ second film Help! premiered at 8pm on July 29, 1965 at the London Pavilion, Piccadilly Circus, London. Maureen was almost 8 months pregnant at the time but attended anyway. Cynthia wore a full-length tunic-style sleeveless dress in black and beige silk from Fenwick’s and a black Mary Quant chiffon coat, bordered with black feathers.

Pictures taken in June 1964 to go with a story released to the press about Maureen working as a secretary for The Beatles in order to pass her off as being merely a friend of the group and nothing more.

Girl Trades Beatle Kiss for Medal

A teen-aged Manhattan girl who inadvertently stole Ringo Starr’s religious medal returned it yesterday and her reward was paid off in kisses. “I’ve had it a long time,” Starr said as he retrieved his St. Christopher medal from Angie McGowan, 16. The medal is a Catholic religious symbol denoting protection form danger while traveling.”My auntie gave it to me, ” Starr explained. “It’s very small, but it means a lot to me.” Angie said she was trying to steal a kiss from Ringo in an early morning crush, was jolted back by the crowd and came away with the medal. When Starr proffered a kiss of gratitude on Angie’s cheek, photographers prevailed upon him to repeat it a score of times. Angie acquiesced gracefully. The Beatle Paul McCartney happened into the room and added his own kiss on Angie’s cheek.”It was just wonderful,” sighed the blissful teenager. “Gee, I wish I could have met the other two.” [x]
